File Service Analyzer Release 1.0 Demo
H
This file accompanies DEMOFSA.EXE which contains the demonstration version
of FILE SERVICE ANALYZER.
File Service Analyzer is a new tool for VINES network administrators. FSA
track file usage in Banyan File Services. FSA can provide the following
reports:
File Services
List of Files
File Events (opens, modifications, deletions, renamings, creations
and executions)
User's Files
User File Service Sessions
User's Approximate Disk Space
FSA is completely automatic in operation. An FSA service is installed on
each server you wish to monitor which collects and buffers the file data.
A DOS-based reporting tool collects the data and produces reports. It is
possible to 'set it and forget it' producing just the reports you need.
FSA has a report queue that allows you to create as many different reports
as you wish and batch process them. The reports can be output to screen,
printer or ASCII file in any combination.
FSA provides comprehensive filtering of report data. For example you can
generate a report of the EXE files located on server MYSERVER that have
be executed between 11/21/90 10:00:00 and 11/22/90 14:00:00 by the users
in group Admin.
FSA has a comprehensive on-line help facility, supports standard printers,
uses StreetTalk wild-card patterns for filtering, supports color and mono-
chrome displays and stores its data in industry-standard DBF files.
This demonstration version of FSA has all the features of the actual working
version, but is suplied with a captive set of data. A timed fully-working
evaluation copy will be available in late November.
FSA is priced at $395 per server and requires 512K RAM under DOS.
FSA was developed using the VINES Application ToolKit.
